I provide insight to my clients on design details every day. We talk about what colors to use, and where, where to position large floral displays, and how to convey a feeling of love and comfort through lighting techniques and fabric. We laughingly lament over varieties of flowers to use ("Candy Bianca" or "Sweet Unique"). It's the artist in me that makes me so passionate and appreciative of the medium that I work with. It inspires me collaborating with people through nature and this love of artistic expression.

A few summers ago, I started providing "details boxes" to the photographers of the weddings I work on. I include pieces of ribbon, swatches of fabric, and single stems of each flower used in the event. My hope is to give the people behind the lens the opportunity to see the details that we have spent so much time fussing over. I love giving the artist in them the chance to play like I do every day.

The images here were captured so gracefully and artfully by Kerry and Taylor of Birch Blaze Photography from the "details box" I left for them in the tent of Keri & Mo's wedding this past fall (see the recent blog from Birch Blaze for more from this wedding).

On this cold winter day, I am warmed and inspired by these images. I hope you are inspired as well!

Featured is Jaime and Bryan’s sparkling Fourth of July wedding. With a positively patriotic palette of red, white, and blue, it was so fun to design for! The bridal bouquet featured beautiful white peonies that were at the end of their season for northern NH, scabiosa, and deep red roses. Playful accents of real grass and playful gerber daisies decorated the tables, really capturing the summer spirit!

Wedding at the Indian Head Resort

The weekend of June 4th provided plenty of sunshine for our wedding clients married at North Woodstock's Indian Head Resort. It was nice working with Leslie Barbini of The Wedding Belle and her great team who made the day of details flawless! I am excited to share some of the photo's I took of the flowers for the weekend.

The rehearsal dinner on Friday welcomed guests with many small arrangements with the colors and flowers giving a sneak peek of what was to come on Saturday. Sarah Bernhard pink peonies, lime green hydrangea, viburnum, roses and more were combined together in small 3" clear glass cubes and clustered on each table. The many small arrangements came in useful for the next days events...

...just in case anything was overlooked...there were plenty of flowers to go around!

On Saturday, the rest of the flowers were delivered...

The bridal bouquet was naturally gathered with anemones (the last of the season), peonies, astilbee, viburnum, lily-of-the-valley, lady's mantle...

...ivy vines and clematis vines twisted throughout...

You'll also see scabiosa pods, brazilla, and pitcher stems...

The bridesmaids carried similar style bouquets with pops of pinks and more spring greens...

Boutonnieres and corsages...

The ceremony was held along the lakeside...

I love the way the bright white and dark greens look here with peonies, hydrangea, viburnum, astilbee and clematis vines cascasding from the gazebo.

The reception and centerpieces! It never surprises me what a difference the fruitwood ballroom chairs make in a bland function space especially with fresh flowers and a simple splash of colored linens!

Peonies capture not only springs best - but NH's too!

A wedding in the rustic north woods are not complete without birch details! These pedestals do the trick for the buffet and gift tables.

Emmaline Bride featured a wonderful wedding we were part of at the Bishop Farm Bed & Breakfast and Cottages for Pete and Sarah, who also deserve a special congratulation for starting their own invitation and planning company, Kismet Design & Events. Did You Know the White House Has Its Own Florist?

Flower arrangements have been a part of the White House's decor since the early days of the White House. In 1815, President James Monroe even purchased gilt bronze vases for the White House to feature flowers. By the mid 1830's, greenhouses were constructed on the west side of the White House. These greenhouses, like many others constructed at that time, enabled the year-round availability of plants and cut flowers.

In 1902, the White House removed the greenhouses so that the White House could become larger. The White House then began to get flowers from neighboring government greenhouses. The administrations realized their importance in not only setting, but also their importance of conveying warmth and prestige. As air travel became prevalent in the United States, the White House began to procure flowers from Florida and California. First Lady Eisenhower even received pink carnations from Colorado.

For many years, the White House used flowers for their aura and impression.. much like traditional funeral work of our time. Jackie Kennedy's arrival to the White House made legendary changes to the White House's style. First Lady Kennedy drew much of her floral inspiration from 16th century Flemish floral and fruit still life paintings. Special White House tableware was now used as vessels for flowers instead of as shelf sitter. She established the first chief of floral design, Rusty Young who worked for both LBJ and Nixon as well.

Today, First Lady Obama has brought her own style to the White House. Michelle Obama prefers a more relaxed look which incorporates romantic blooms like roses, ranunculas, mosses, and shaggy ferns. President Obama, however prefers one simple floral arrangement in the Oval Office along with a simple bowl of red apples.

The current staff is headed up by Laura Dowling along with three staff members. Fresh flower arrangements are a feature in every White House event. Dowling and her staff plan months ahead for diplomatic ceremonies. Dowling is new to the position. She may not have as many stories to share as former Chief of Floral, Nancy Clarke (head florist for 30 years,).

President Ronald Reagan once stopped former White House chief florist Dottie Temple to ask about the then-very-fashionable curly willow branches she'd arranged in the Reagans' bedroom. "About those sticks on the mantel," Reagan said to Temple. "Is anything going to happen to them?" Temple says she got the message. "Yes, sir. I'm going to get rid of them as soon as possible," she said.

"For the longest time, we used to keep a bowl of peach-colored roses on Bush Two's coffee table in the Oval Office," Clarke said. "We changed them to red and that lasted five minutes. We got a call that the president wants the peach roses back."

Organic Flowers for Valentine's Day at EH Floral

There is something magical about getting a dozen roses for Valentine’s Day. The happy surprise when the delivery person has a package for you! All of your co-workers oooh and ahhhh and are jealous of your loving partner. Many people say I love you with a dozen roses on February 14th.

But there is a dark side to roses that bloom in the winter. Commercially grown flowers can be pesticide intensive and cause diseases in the workers who pick them. According to the USDA, 70 percent of flowers sold in the United States are from Columbia and Ecuador. Some of these growers use highly toxic pesticides and fumigants that are banned in the United Stated. These toxins cause disease, especially in children. According to Planet Green:

Two-thirds of Colombian and Ecuadorian workers suffer from problems associated with pesticide exposure … The International Labor Organization estimates that 20 percent of flower workers in Ecuador are children, who are even more vulnerable to chemical hazards.

Pesticides, transportation emissions, and packaging waste really takes the blush off the roses. But buying organic flowers will leave you smelling sweet. EH Floral will be delivering organically grown red roses for Valentine's Day and even better, the vase is made from recycled glass.

Emily will have other sustainably grown and organically gown flowers available some even grown right here in New England from local flower farms in Vermont, Massachusetts, and Maine.

A Recent Thank You

It was a nice surprise to receive this email yesterday from one of my cleints from the past summer of 2010...

I am so sorry it has taken me this long to send you these photos. It has been on my to-do list for months so it feels really good to finally send these your way. We were beyond thrilled with what you created for us. All of the flowers and decorations were incredibly beautiful and it was just what I wanted...even better than I could have envisioned it. You have a true passion for what you do and it comes through so clearly in your work. You were such a pleasure to work with and I can't thank you enough for what you gave me. Of course I will never forget that day, but the flowers will always stand out in my mind as the most unique and creative I've seen so far. I think it was obvious to our guests that our florist really loves what she does!

Creative Ideas for Wedding Flowers - Part 1

Thought I would share some of the creative tips for wedding floral design from eleGala.com -- trends for 2011!

Play with Shape

Arrangements with a just-picked, unstructured look are replacing the tightly bound bouquet and centerpiece shapes of previous seasons. Ensure a modern, not messy, look by choosing the right flowers. Hearty blooms like roses, orchids, and amaranthus work well in looser arrangements because of the sleek shape of the individual blooms. Seeded eucalyptus will add texture without looking messy. Also consider incorporating non-floral elements like feathers, wheat, berries, and crystals to add interest and depth.

Think Pink
Believe it or not, pink is back. From bright, honeysuckle, and coral shades to classic, sophisticated blush tones, we can expect to see both in the 2011 wedding color palette. Many brides are daring to think beyond basic hot pink by incorporating the softer shades into their floral schemes with garden roses, peonies, and even mini-carnations, which offer great texture. Avoid chocolate brown (so last year!) and instead pair your brighter coral pink with tangerine and lemon yellow, while warm grays and gentle golds will complement the softer, rosey, champagne pink.

Grey is the new black - I love the way they grey dusty miller contrasts and softens.

Look Beyond the Vase
Options abound beyond the basic floral vase for holding your flowers. Consider instead mixing and matching clusters of unique containers like old bottles, mason jars, vintage tins, pitchers, or milk glass to add interest and reflect your wedding theme. Some ideas: Fill watering cans with wild flowers for a garden fete, or cluster old apothecary jars with just one or two blooms in each each.

Winter weddings are such a treat! I love the flowers that are available from Jauary through May; quince, tulips, muscari, sweet peas... not to mention the textural treats like black raspberries, and dusty miller... The White Mountains in the winter (all seasons for that matter) is a perfect setting for a wedding. I was lucky to work with Debbie and Steve for their January 29th wedding at Loon Mountain in Lincoln, New Hampshire.

These are some of the centerpieces still in the studio just before delivery. Cube glass vases were compactly filled with dusty miller, chocolate geranium, viburnum, freesia, sweet peas, lisianthus, Sahara roses and cymbidium orchids.

The pale pink Sahara rose opens so beautifully.

The ceremony arrangements with white amaryllis.

Debbie carried a cascading bouquet with winter greens, sweet peas, anemones, ranunculus, callas, nerine lilies, garden roses, and sudty miller.

There was no shortage of candle light for the reception! The tables mixed rectangular and round shapes for a more modern look.

Flowering quince branches and hanging candle light added to a natural and romantic setting.

I coordniated all the linen and chair rentals for this event, I am always happy to help where I can.

Birch bark cuffed the tops of the large cylinder vases.

I loved the flowering quince detail on the menu cards.

EH Floral Featured in LaBella Bride Magazine

I am excited to share five bouquets which had been created for a make-over project from spring 2010 featured in the most current issue of LaBella Bride Magazine! Meg Hamilton of Rodeo & Co. Photography photographed the bouquets while shooting a make-over of The Rock's Estate with wedding planner Diana Ma and many other talented wedding and event vendors. I submitted the images to them in the spring.

Thank you to everyone who was involved!

LaBella Bride is an annual publication, based out of Rhode Island. LaBella Bride features the hottest trends in event design, catering, cakes, and florals. This is their 5th Anniversary Issue.

The pink bouquet in the top right corner is mine, ranunculus, parrot tulips and dusty miller.

I created both the first and second bouquets on this page. The first, Dutch blue hydrangea, delphinium, roses, pussy willow, and hosta leaves. The second, white garden roses, lilac, peonies, and sweet peas.

The first and the third are mine here. Yellow ranunculus, lily-of-the-valley, dusty miller, and ariella leaves.

And in the bottom photograph, jewled tones of scarlet peonies, viburnum, roses, sweet peas, and bush ivy.

New Year's Eve Wedding

Cameron and Jason were married at the Murphy Farm House in Queeche, VT on New Year's Eve, followed by a very intimate (40 of their closest family and friends) reception at the Simon Pearce Restaurant just across the river.

Cameron did all of her own planning from Texas, collecting antique clocks for clustering on the reception tables, purchasing her vintage dress from Etsy.com, and collaborating with me to create natural and elegant floral arrangements for the evenings event.

We choose glass pedestal style vases to complement the beautiful glass of Simon Pearce to be clustered down long farm tables.

Garden roses, anemones, roses, lilacs, and more were used to create the centerpieces and bouquets

Cameron purchased the gold chargers from Target for only $3.00 each!

I loved the subtlety of the clocks nestled between the flower arrangements which included peonies, lilacs, roses, ranunculus, anemones, and more. Individual green lady slipper orchids were placed in small antique apothecary bottles for extra eye candy.

The ceremony location, Murphy's Farm, was kept natural and simple for the ceremony featuring winter greens and lots of candle light. I love this rustic space.

Cameron's bouquet included "Quicksand" roses, peonies, lilacs, anemones, and white feathers. You cannot see it in this photo, but a small gold pocket watch was attached to embellish the wrapping of the bouquets stems. I'll be looking forward to the professional photos!

The bridesmaids bouquets even included blackraspberries and eucalyptus pods for added texture and memorable detail.

Garnet Hill Winter Catalogue 2010

I do a lot of designing for weddings (over 40 this year), but one of my other favorite things to do is collaborate with the very talented designers at Garnet Hill. The photo studio where the majority of the catalogue is styled and photographed is in Bethlehem, NH - only a few miles from the EH Floral studio. For this seasons holiday issue I handmade 15' of bay leaf garland for the shoot that took place in Sugar Hill (at the once vacation home of actress Bettie Davis). I was so excited to open to page 24 to find a full page layout with my garland draping beautifully against the brick fire place! All the great gift ideas featured in this catalogue are quite eye catching as well!

When I worked with Jaclyne this past summer, she was determined to keep her costs under control. Her colors were purple, white, and green and she LOVED hydrangea. By using all hydrangea (Dutch purple, white and green) with simple seasonal accents (sweet peas, ranunculus, freesia...), this was no problem for EH Floral! Here are a few of the arrangements that brightened the Mountain View Grand this past August.

The dark purple really "popped" from the white table linen that was provided by the MVG. Although I really feel it is well worth the expense to rent colored linen and ballroom style chairs, a clean white background always features the flower centerpieces well.

Rather than expensive favors, donating to a charity is a great way to share your appreciation.

The purples matched perfectly with the bridesmaids dresses!

Simple, clean, elegant and in budget!

I had an amazing wedding season this 2010 and I am so thankful for all of my clients and their families who choose to work with me. Formal Ballroom Wedding

With all there was to do for Hadley and Greg's wedding at the Mountain View Grand in Whitefield, I did not have the time to take any photos for the bridesmaid’s bouquets or the bridal bouquet, which were stunning and unique,with purple dahlia's, sweet peas, roses, orchids, and dusty miller... But I did capture a few shots of the very formal ceremony and ballroom settings. Silver, eggplant purple, cream, and green were the feature colors of this mid September evening event.

The rain stopped just in time for Sarah and Peter to have a sunny and beautiful fall themed wedding and reception at the Bishop Farm in Lisbon, NH. I loved collaborating with Sarah on the details, she had great ideas and was amazing at DIY crafts! I hope you enjoy the photos that I took just a few hours before the wedding. The bouquets included dahlia's, sunflowers, scabiosa pods, helenia, kangaroo paws, ranunculus, safflower and wheat... The bridesmaids were in J.Crew chocolate brown dresses.

Sarah carried a rustic gathering reflecting the country setting including garden roses, chocolate cosmos, hypericum berry and more.

Hay bales with country print fabric created the ceremony seating rows.

Enchanted Forest Theme

Tammy and Gary's wedding was September 4th, 2010 at the Omni Mount Washington Resort in Brettonwoods, NH. Tammy envisioned an "enchanted forest" theme for her wedding. With the help of wedding planner, Diana Ma the flower arrangements and details were styled to reflect this dream. Tammy's bridesmaids wore a dark eggplant purple, and the flowers incorporated whites, purples and lots of dark, lush greens.

Butterflies and orchids blossoms complemented each place setting.

Mercury glass pedestal vases were filled naturally with fern, dusty miller, pieres, "amnesia" roses, purple hydrangea, and chocolate geranium. Moss pintuck table linens added to the earthy feel.

Place settings were punch cut paper butterflies that set on the rim of the glasses.

Cocktail tables were accented with moss, a single lady slipper orchid, and a mercury glass votive.

The escort table was designed to bring the whole theme into focus, a real tree stump covered

with hydrangea, clematis vines, fern, moss and more...

The ceremony urns were moved after the ceremony to the recpetion, this is a great way to get more use out of your ceremony flowers.

I am a few weeks behind on wedding blogs for the EH Floral Studio... My son Parker turned 2 yesterday, so between balancing a busy family life, booking weddings for 2011, meeting with my current 2010 clients for sample views and final reviews, and every weekend finding myself waist deep in some of the worlds, and the seasons most beautiful flowers – it is no surprise blogging has been on the back burner!

With so many great wedding still to come this summer, I don't want to miss sharing some sneak peeks. Many thanks to all the great couples and vendors who have helped make all our weddings so enjoyable! It is great working with you all!

Angela & Nate - Toad Hill Farm & Lovett's Inn - July 3rd, 2010

Angela and Nate had an amazing weekend for their wedding and reception on July 3, 2010. The weather was unbeatable! The views from Toad Hill are always breath taking, but they were even more memorable thanks to the love of Nate and Angela's families and friends! Thank you for including EH Floral!

The images to follow are ones I took on Saturday - I can't wait to see what Birch Blaze (http://www.birchblaze.com/) does with their professional shots!

Angela's bouquet was naturally gathered for a handpicked look using native flowers clematis vine, garden roses, fresh lavender, lady's mantle, rosemary, mint and more!

The stems were wrapped with coordianteing white ribbon and bailing twine for a rustic look to suit Toad Hill.

A circular ceremony overlooking the Whtie Mountains of Franconia.

I rarely remember to take photo's of boutonnieres and corsages, this was a wrist corsage worn by Nate's sister who did a reading at the ceremony.

Ball jars were hung at the ceremony and reception on sheppard hooks to add to the casual country feel.

Nate and Angela named their tables for wild flowers. Nate painted a picture of each wildflower to match the tables names. The escort cards were hung from bailing twine at the entrance of the tent.

I love the stone walls that surround so many of the old properties of New Hampshire - great for floating votives!

The centerpieces were created in antique ball jars of varring styles on each table all collected by Angela and Nate themselves.

Dontaions are a great way to share and celebrate with meaning!

BEFORE...

Here is a look at my studio design bench before creating the arrangements for a bright and beautiful wedding at the Moutnain View Grand on June 20, 2010.

Bright orange and yellow flowers with navy accents were the theme colors of this event.

AFTER...

Here are the finished arrangements.

Gerbera daisies, ranunculus, aschlepia, craspedia, steel berries, and sweet peas were used to create the colorful and bright bridal bouquet.

The centerpieces were designed in simple modern cylinder glass vases cuffed with navy blue ribbon.

The ceremony took place on the front veranda of the Moutnain View Grand. Gladiolas were a special request for inexpensive and still dramatic arrangements.

For this formal outdoor wedding, hydrangea, delphinium, peonies, sweet peas, nigelia, tweedia, hosta, dusty miller and more were use in the arrangements and bouquets. Silver candelabras on round tables, and square silver cubes on the square tables...formal, elegant, and so beautiful!

The Centerpieces

Shannon and John's wedding reception was also at the Moutnain View Grand, in the Crystal Ballroom. Shannon wanted tall and low centerpiece arrangements that featured the vintage look and feel that she was planning. Antique brushed gold candleabras for the talls, and low 5" antique gold pedestal bowls for the lows.

The flowers included seasonal blushing pink peonies, hydrangea, sweet peas, pieres, and roses...

Cymbidium orchids add to the details...

Shannon provided the frames for the table numbers also in gold with vintage styles.

Crystals in the tall arrangements added that romantic sparkle and also coordinated well in the Crystal Ballroom.

The Bouquets

Shannon was looking for vintage inspired florals to include gold accents. The bridemaid bouquets were petite gatherings of pale blushing peonies with dusty miller and gold pieres. Dawn and Troy were married on Sunday, May 30, 2010 at the St. Mathew's Church in Whitefield New Hampshire, their reception was at the Mountain View Grand. Dawn choose red and white to be her theme colors and wanted the flowers to reflect this with spring blooms. Large red peonies were incorporated with white calla lilies, lily-of-the-valley and sweet peas in the bouquets -- favorites of Dawn and Troy.

Dawn's bouquet, composed of all lily-of-the-valley and calla lily's, was wrapped to coordinate with her dress.

Her bridesmaids carried small nosegays of peonies and calla lily's.

Garland was added to the entry of St. Mathew's Church

Inside the church, an aisle runner and simple accents of single white hydrangea stems were added to the pews.

The unity candle was later used on the sweetheart table at the reception.

The sweetheart table with custom linen by Be Our Guest to coordinate with the style of the brides dress.

Tall centerpieces with calla lily's, hydrangea, peonies, and hanging green amaranthus were surrounded by moss votives (hand wrapped by EH Floral).

It was a fun weekend designing for Sara & Ben Workinger at the Mountain View Grand Resort in Whitefield, New Hampshire. Green and whites were the feature colors in the spring bouquets.

Sarah carried all green with double and parrot tulips, green dianthus, viburnum, lady's mantle, hydrangea, and one of my favorites - heleborus!

The stems were wrapped simply with white ribbon and held with pearl pins to coordinate with details of Sarah's gown.

A small intimate wedding last weekend included beautiful pale pink peonies, loacally grown peony tulips from Reggie Tarr (thank you Reggie), ranunculus, lisianthus, and dusty miller.

I love the softness of these blossoms and the touch of grey with the dusty miller.

Centerpieces in classic mason jars included viburnum, peonies, chocolate geranium leaves, sweet peas, and lady's mantle set on April Cornell print linen.

A Colorful June Wedding at The Mountain View Grand, Whitefield, NH

Matt and Molly had a colorful vision in their minds when they set out to plan their wedding in June of 2008. Their wedding was at the Mountian View Grand Resort in Whitefield, New Hampshire.

Molly carried a compactly gathered bouquet with hydrangea, peonies, gerbera daisies and astilbee inbright mixed colors that included all the different bridesmaids dress colors.

The reception centerpieces were blasts of monochromatic color with a mix of 3 small arrangements or all monochromatic paper luminary candle lanterns. Table runners and napkins also highlighted the bright theme colors.

The headtable combined both style arrangements and all the colors of the bridal party.

The tables were named for the mountains of the White Mountain mountain range.

I always love a flower wreath! This wreath was hung on the entry door to the ballroom and also used at the ceremony, the color really popped with peonies and hydrangea.

Jillian & Zach Colby, May 2009 Lunenburg, Vermont with Brian Post

It was a pleasure to work with Jillian and Zach Colby last May! They put so much time, hard work, and love into their day -- from the centerpieces (Zach cut all the birch logs to use as pedestals for the table arrangements), the tent floor (also built by Zach), the lights in the trees (which they started as soon as the snow began to melt in March), to the lanterns in the tent (Jill spent hours!)...they did it all! They had a beautiful spring wedding on the Colby's property in Lunenburg, Vermont!

I thought this would be a good time to share their beautiful day. I hope you are inspired!

Plum and eggplant purples, spring lime green and white were the theme colors.

Peonies, calla lilies, cymbidium orchids, lily of the valley, lisianthus, green roses, hydrangea, lady's mantle, and touches of dusty miller were the featured flowers of Jill's bouquet.

The bridesmaids carried small hand held bouquets with purple and lime green hydrangea, purple calla lilies, mini cymbidium orchids, lady's mantle, and dusty miller.

The programs for the wedding were hand made books with wooden jackets burned with their Jill and Zach's initials.

The escort table is always a favorite table or display of mine... This one especially, with moss, birch, and tons of candle light was extra special.

The reception was festive and inviting with great bold color. Jillian had fun with celadon green table lines and plum napkins. The birch stumps were perfect pedestals.

Fruitwood ballroom chairs were a must! The purple sashes gave it a formal finished look.

No detail was overlooked!

Zach cut extra birch logs and hollowed them out for the head table. The bridesmaid's bouquets were set into the logs to be transformed in the head table centerpieces.

The Phinney wedding in July 2009 was memorable for so many reasons... Leslie Barbini of The Wedding Belle http://www.theweddingbelle.net/ was the wedding planner extrodinare. What an amazing job her team did to make it all happen, and our friends and associates Matt and Liz Hinkley of Hinkley Photography http://www.hinkleyphoto.com/ were there us once again to capture another beautful wedding!

Bright summer color -- yellow, pink, blue, purple. Lisa wanted a little bit of everything summer.

Ashley and Beau were clients of mine in the spring of 2009. I enjoyed their energy and openness to be creative yet still wanting to keep things simple. It was a picture perfect day in so many ways!

Ashley's bouquet included hosta, clematis, victorian garden roses, and clematis vine.

This is a great way to invite guests into the ceremony area without taking away from the amazing views from the Rooftop Terrace. Two large arrangements were set on stone style pedestals at the back of the aisle chairs. After the ceremony, these arrangements were taken inside and used at the reception.

White, pink, and antique Dutch Hydrangea pare nicely with hosta leaves and trailing green amaranthus.

Each bridesmaid carried a unique gathering of all one pink flower that best reflected their personalities best. The dresses were a dark navy color so the stems were wrapped to coordinate.

Marisa and Tim had a beautiful wedding at The Mount Washington Resort in June 2009. I am always excited to be working with Matt and Liz from Hinkley Photography. The images on this post are all curtessy of Hickley Photo http://www.hinkleyphoto.com/.

Marisa carried a hand tied bouquet of pale pink and white peonies, fragrant sweet peas, lavender, trailing pieces of double bloom clematis vine and touches of dusty miller.

Tim very specifically requested a unique boutonniere with a succulent and fiddlehead.

Bridemaids caried bouquets with jewled tones including plum purples, dark blues, and pale yellows. The Jr. Bridesmaid carried a pomeander.

A single yellow tree poeny is warm and happy flower to welcome love on a spring day.

You could not have asked for a more beautiful day.

Tall and low arrangements of brightly colored hydrangea, lisianthus, roses, bells of Ireland, freesia, and more centered each table.

Trailing jasmine vine, single tree peonies, currly willow and submerged orchids as eye candy for the guests.

And don't forget the cake!

Stowe Wedding - The Reception

I can't wait to see the photo's that were captured by the photographer (these are all my own shots). There were over 300 candles used in this large space to give it a more intimate feel. Multiple arrangements on each table in varing sizes all reflected early spring and late winter themes with tulips, hyacinth, roses, flowering quince, moss and birch.

Stowe Wedding - The Ceremony

Our March 6th wedding ceremony took place at the Vermont Ski Museum in downtown Stowe,Vermont.

There was work to be done to create a natural and romantic backdrop for the ceremony.

An instalation of flowering white quince branches, birch, and pussy willow was created to look as though growing through the floor from a bed of moss, hydrangea, tulips, dusty miller, and anemones.

Stowe Wedding - The Bouquets

The bridal bouquet was all white and ivory of James Austin garden roses, lily-of-the-valley, sweet peas, peonies, hydrangea, lambs ear, and a single gardenia.

Bridesmaids wore black cocktail dresses, each slightly different in style. Their bouquets included white anemones with black centers, white fringe tulips, white French ranunculus, blue muscari (grape hyacinth), sweet peas, and dusty miller.

The stems of the bouquet were wrapped in black ribbon and ivy.

Clear glass and birch wrapped canning jars in varing sizes, canning jar votives and birch wrapped votives clustered along the center of long rectangular tables.

Dusty miller, anemones (which may not be available by white clematis flowers will substitute well), ranunculus, lisianthus, and seeded euc. Let's add clematis vines anyway and chocolate geranium leaves!!!

What about hints of pale, pale peach, dusty pink, and soft yellow to coordinate with the antique, pale dress colors and vintage fabric details?

For one of the featured table designs, Emily collaborated with Admac Salvage of Littleton using an antique table which she completely covered in moss and topped with a custom glass table top from Littleton’s Portland Glass on Main Street. Granite bowls, lady slipper orchids, and fiddleheads were used by Emily to create the centerpiece for this organic “glass slipper” inspiration. The second table features Victorian garden roses, sweetpeas, and clematis with lots of candlelight for a classic French look.
